Reassurance
On his journey to Haran, Jacob rests under the stars at Bethel, unaware that his life is about to change forever. In a dream, a magnificent ladder appears, stretching from earth to heaven, with angels ascending and descending. At the top, the Lord Himself declares a covenant with Jacob, promising him the land, countless descendants, and divine protection wherever he goes. Awestruck and trembling, Jacob realizes he has encountered the very presence of God and vows to honor Him, transforming the stone he slept on into a sacred pillar, marking Bethel as the gateway to heaven.

Jacob continued on his journey toward Haran and came as far as Mount Moriah, reaching Luz in the mountains—which is Bethel—on the new moon of the 1st month of that week. He arrived at the place in the evening and turned off the road to the west to spend the night there, because the sun had set. He took one of the stones from the place, set it under his head beneath a tree, and slept there. He was traveling alone.
