Masterpiece

(2-minute read)

In the first year of the exodus, YHWH summoned Moses to Mount Sinai, unveiling the divine law and Israel’s destiny over forty days and nights. Moses witnessed the grand tapestry of creation, rebellion, and redemption, chronicling how YHWH meticulously forged the universe in six days and consecrated the seventh as the eternal Sabbath. With unmatched power and precision, YHWH shaped the cosmos, filling it with light, land, seas, vegetation, celestial wonders, and creatures of air and water, each step building towards the climactic formation of humanity.

On the sixth day, YHWH crowned His creation by molding humans in His own image, granting them dominion over all creatures. Placing man in the lush Garden of Eden, He provided every good tree, including the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil, completing His masterpiece with the declaration that it was very good.

To seal this divine work, YHWH blessed and sanctified the seventh day, establishing the Sabbath as a sacred covenant with Israel. This day of rest, free from labor, became a perpetual sign of YHWH’s creation and His special bond with His chosen people. The Sabbath’s observance would forever anchor Israel’s identity and divine laws, echoing through the generations as a testament to their unique relationship with the Almighty.

YHWH asks Moses to meet Him on Mount Sinaii

Jubilees 1:1-2

1 And it came to pass in the first year of the exodus of the children of Israel out of Egypt, in the third month, on the sixteenth day of the month, [2450 Anno Mundi] that God spake to Moses, saying: ‘Come up to Me on the Mount, and I will give thee two tables of stone of the law and of the commandment, which I have written, that thou mayst teach them.’
2 And Moses went up into the mount of God, and the glory of the Lord abode on Mount Sinai, and a cloud overshadowed it six days.

Day: 23

Moses receives instructions to write the history of the world in a book

Jubilees 1:3-28

3 And He called to Moses on the seventh day out of the midst of the cloud, and the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a flaming fire on the top of the mount.
4 And Moses was on the Mount forty days and forty nights, and God taught him the earlier and the later history of the division of all the days of the law and of the testimony.
5 And He said: ‘Incline thine heart to every word which I shall speak to thee on this mount, and write them in a book in order that their generations may see how I have not forsaken them for all the evil which they have wrought in transgressing the covenant which I establish between Me and thee for their generations this day on Mount Sinai.
6 And thus it will come to pass when all these things come upon them, that they will recognise that I am more righteous than they in all their judgments and in all their actions, and they will recognise that I have been truly with them.
7 And do thou write for thyself all these words which I declare unto, thee this day, for I know their rebellion and their stiff neck, before I bring them into the land of which I sware to their fathers, to Abraham and to Isaac and to Jacob, saying: ‘ Unto your seed will I give a land flowing with milk and honey.
8 And they will eat and be satisfied, and they will turn to strange gods, to (gods) which cannot deliver them from aught of their tribulation: and this witness shall be heard for a witness against them. For they will forget all My commandments, (even) all that I command them, and they will walk after the Gentiles, and after their uncleanness, and after their shame, and will serve their gods, and these will prove unto them an offence and a tribulation and an affliction and a snare.
9 And many will perish and they will be taken captive, and will fall into the hands of the enemy, because they have forsaken My ordinances and My commandments, and the festivals of My covenant, and My sabbaths, and My holy place which I have hallowed for Myself in their midst, and My tabernacle, and My sanctuary, which I have hallowed for Myself in the midst of the land, that I should set my name upon it, and that it should dwell (there).
10 And they will make to themselves high places and groves and graven images, and they will worship, each his own (graven image), so as to go astray, and they will sacrifice their children to demons, and to all the works of the error of their hearts.
11 And I will send witnesses unto them, that I may witness against them, but they will not hear, and will slay the witnesses also, and they will persecute those who seek the law, and they will abrogate and change everything so as to work evil before My eyes.
12 And I will hide My face from them, and I will deliver them into the hand of the Gentiles for captivity, and for a prey, and for devouring, and I will remove them from the midst of the land, and I will scatter them amongst the Gentiles.
13 And they will forget all My law and all My commandments and all My judgments, and will go astray as to new moons, and sabbaths, and festivals, and jubilees, and ordinances.
14 And after this they will turn to Me from amongst the Gentiles with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength, and I will gather them from amongst all the Gentiles, and they will seek me, so that I shall be found of them, when they seek me with all their heart and with all their soul.
15 And I will disclose to them abounding peace with righteousness, and I will remove them the plant of uprightness, with all My heart and with all My soul, and they shall be for a blessing and not for a curse, and they shall be the head and not the tail.
16 And I will build My sanctuary in their midst, and I will dwell with them, and I will be their God and they shall be My people in truth and righteousness.
17 And I will not forsake them nor fail them; for I am the Lord their God.’
18 And Moses fell on his face and prayed and said, ‘O Lord my God, do not forsake Thy people and Thy inheritance, so that they should wander in the error of their hearts, and do not deliver them into the hands of their enemies, the Gentiles, lest they should rule over them and cause them to sin against Thee.
19 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be lifted up upon Thy people, and create in them an upright spirit, and let not the spirit of Beliar rule over them to accuse them before Thee, and to ensnare them from all the paths of righteousness, so that they may perish from before Thy face.
20 But they are Thy people and Thy inheritance, which thou hast delivered with thy great power from the hands of the Egyptians: create in them a clean heart and a holy spirit, and let them not be ensnared in their sins from henceforth until eternity.’
21 And the Lord said unto Moses: ‘I know their contrariness and their thoughts and their stiffneckedness, and they will not be obedient till they confess their own sin and the sin of their fathers.
22 And after this they will turn to Me in all uprightness and with all (their) heart and with all (their) soul, and I will circumcise the foreskin of their heart and the foreskin of the heart of their seed, and I will create in them a holy spirit, and I will cleanse them so that they shall not turn away from Me from that day unto eternity.
23 And their souls will cleave to Me and to all My commandments, and they will fulfil My commandments, and I will be their Father and they shall be My children.
24 And they all shall be called children of the living God, and every angel and every spirit shall know, yea, they shall know that these are My children, and that I am their Father in uprightness and righteousness, and that I love them.
25 And do thou write down for thyself all these words which I declare unto thee on this mountain, the first and the last, which shall come to pass in all the divisions of the days in the law and in the testimony and in the weeks and the jubilees unto eternity, until I descend and dwell with them throughout eternity.’
26 And He said to the angel of the presence: Write for Moses from the beginning of creation till My sanctuary has been built among them for all eternity.
27 And the Lord will appear to the eyes of all, and all shall know that I am the God of Israel and the Father of all the children of Jacob, and King on Mount Zion for all eternity. And Zion and Jerusalem shall be holy.’
28 And the angel of the presence who went before the camp of Israel took the tables of the divisions of the years -from the time of the creation- of the law and of the testimony of the weeks of the jubilees, according to the individual years, according to all the number of the jubilees [according, to the individual years], from the day of the [new] creation when the heavens and the earth shall be renewed and all their creation according to the powers of the heaven, and according to all the creation of the earth, until the sanctuary of the Lord shall be made in Jerusalem on Mount Zion, and all the luminaries be renewed for healing and for peace and for blessing for all the elect of Israel, and that thus it may be from that day and unto all the days of the earth.

Jubilees 2:1

1 And the angel of the presence spake to Moses according to the word of the Lord, saying: Write the complete history of the creation, how in six days the Lord God finished all His works and all that He created, and kept Sabbath on the seventh day and hallowed it for all ages, and appointed it as a sign for all His works.

The first day of creation

Genesis 1:1-5

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Jubilees 2:2-3

2 For on the first day He created the heavens which are above and the earth and the waters and all the spirits which serve before him -the angels of the presence, and the angels of sanctification, and the angels [of the spirit of fire and the angels] of the spirit of the winds, and the angels of the spirit of the clouds, and of darkness, and of snow and of hail and of hoar frost, and the angels of the voices and of the thunder and of the lightning, and the angels of the spirits of cold and of heat, and of winter and of spring and of autumn and of summer and of all the spirits of his creatures which are in the heavens and on the earth, (He created) the abysses and the darkness, eventide <and night>, and the light, dawn and day, which He hath prepared in the knowledge of his heart.
3 And thereupon we saw His works, and praised Him, and lauded before Him on account of all His works; for seven great works did He create on the first day.

Day: 2

The second day of creation

Genesis 1:6-8

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Jubilees 2:4

4 And on the second day He created the firmament in the midst of the waters, and the waters were divided on that day -half of them went up above and half of them went down below the firmament (that was) in the midst over the face of the whole earth. And this was the only work (God) created on the second day.

Day: 3

The third day of creation

Genesis 1:9-13

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Jubilees 2:5-8a

5 And on the third day He commanded the waters to pass from off the face of the whole earth into one place, and the dry land to appear.
6 And the waters did so as He commanded them, and they retired from off the face of the earth into one place outside of this firmament, and the dry land appeared.
7 And on that day He created for them all the seas according to their separate gathering-places, and all the rivers, and the gatherings of the waters in the mountains and on all the earth, and all the lakes, and all the dew of the earth, and the seed which is sown, and all sprouting things, and fruit-bearing trees, and trees of the wood, and the garden of Eden, in Eden and all plants after their kind.

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Jubilees 2:16

16 And He finished all his work on the sixth day -all that is in the heavens and on the earth, and in the seas and in the abysses, and in the light and in the darkness, and in everything.

Day: 7

The seventh day of creation

Genesis 2:2-3

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Jubilees 2:17

17 And He gave us a great sign, the Sabbath day, that we should work six days, but keep Sabbath on the seventh day from all work.

Jubilees 2:18-33

18 And all the angels of the presence, and all the angels of sanctification, these two great classes -He hath bidden us to keep the Sabbath with Him in heaven and on earth.
19 And He said unto us: ‘Behold, I will separate unto Myself a people from among all the peoples, and these shall keep the Sabbath day, and I will sanctify them unto Myself as My people, and will bless them; as I have sanctified the Sabbath day and do sanctify (it) unto Myself, even so will I bless them, and they shall be My people and I will be their God.
20 And I have chosen the seed of Jacob from amongst all that I have seen, and have written him down as My first-born son, and have sanctified him unto Myself for ever and ever; and I will teach them the Sabbath day, that they may keep Sabbath thereon from all work.’
21 And thus He created therein a sign in accordance with which they should keep Sabbath with us on the seventh day, to eat and to drink, and to bless Him who has created all things as He has blessed and sanctified unto Himself a peculiar people above all peoples, and that they should keep Sabbath together with us.
22 And He caused His commands to ascend as a sweet savour acceptable before Him all the days . . .
23 There (were) two and twenty heads of mankind from Adam to Jacob, and two and twenty kinds of work were made until the seventh day; this is blessed and holy; and the former also is blessed and holy; and this one serves with that one for sanctification and blessing.
24 And to this (Jacob and his seed) it was granted that they should always be the blessed and holy ones of the first testimony and law, even as He had sanctified and blessed the Sabbath day on the seventh day.
25 He created heaven and earth and everything that He created in six days, and God made the seventh day holy, for all His works; therefore He commanded on its behalf that, whoever does any work thereon shall die, and that he who defiles it shall surely die.
26 Wherefore do thou command the children of Israel to observe this day that they may keep it holy and not do thereon any work, and not to defile it, as it is holier than all other days.
27 And whoever profanes it shall surely die, and whoever does thereon any work shall surely die eternally, that the children of Israel may observe this day throughout their generations, and not be rooted out of the land; for it is a holy day and a blessed day.
28 And every one who observes it and keeps Sabbath thereon from all his work, will be holy and blessed throughout all days like unto us.
29 Declare and say to the children of Israel the law of this day both that they should keep Sabbath thereon, and that they should not forsake it in the error of their hearts; (and) that it is not lawful to do any work thereon which is unseemly, to do thereon their own pleasure, and that they should not prepare thereon anything to be eaten or drunk, and (that it is not lawful) to draw water, or bring in or take out thereon through their gates any burden, which they had not prepared for themselves on the sixth day in their dwellings.
30 And they shall not bring in nor take out from house to house on that day; for that day is more holy and blessed than any jubilee day of the jubilees; on this we kept Sabbath in the heavens before it was made known to any flesh to keep Sabbath thereon on the earth.
31 And the Creator of all things blessed it, but he did not sanctify all peoples and nations to keep Sabbath thereon, but Israel alone: them alone he permitted to eat and drink and to keep Sabbath thereon on the earth.
32 And the Creator of all things blessed this day which He had created for blessing and holiness and glory above all days.
33 This law and testimony was given to the children of Israel as a law for ever unto their generations.

Genesis 2:4-6

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

i. The author of Jubilees has a goal to fit the whole history of the Hebrew people, from Adam to the Entrance into Canaan under Joshua, into exactly fifty Jubilees which covers the first 2450 years of human history. This will cause errors to occur between the years provided between Genesis, Jasher, and Jubilees.

Exposition

J: 50 | Y: 2450 | M: 3 | D: 16 | YHWH asks Moses to meet Him on Mount Sinai
Jubilees 1:1-2
In the 1st year after the children of Israel left Egypt, during the 3rd month on the 16th day, God spoke to Moses and said, “Come up to Me on the mountain, and I will give you two stone tablets containing the law and the commandment that I have written, so that you may teach them.”

So Moses went up the mountain of God, and the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. A cloud covered the mountain for 6 days.

D: 23 | Moses receives instructions to write the history of the world in a book
Jubilees 1:3-2:1
On the 7th day, God called to Moses from within the cloud. The appearance of the Lord’s glory was like a blazing fire at the top of the mountain. Moses remained on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, and God taught him the history of the earlier and later times—how all the days were divided according to the law and the testimony.

God said, “Turn your heart toward every word I will speak to you on this mountain, and write them in a book so that future generations will understand that I have not abandoned them, despite all the evil they’ve done by breaking the covenant I am making with you today on Mount Sinai for all their generations. When these things come upon them, they will realize that I have been more righteous than they are in all My judgments and actions, and that I have been faithful to them.

“Write down everything I tell you today, because I know how rebellious and stubborn they are—even before I bring them into the land I promised their ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, when I said: ‘To your descendants I will give a land flowing with milk and honey.’ They will eat and be satisfied, but then they will turn to foreign gods—gods that can’t save them in their time of trouble. This testimony will stand against them. They will forget all My commandments, everything I instructed them, and they will follow the Gentiles in their impurity and shame. They will serve their gods, and these gods will become a cause of offense, suffering, affliction, and a trap for them.

“Many will perish, be taken captive, and fall into the hands of their enemies because they’ve abandoned My laws, My commandments, the appointed times of My covenant, My Sabbaths, My holy place which I made holy for Myself among them, My tabernacle, and My sanctuary, which I set apart for Myself in the land so that My name would dwell there. They will build high places, plant sacred groves, carve idols, and each person will worship his own idol, straying away. They will even sacrifice their children to demons and follow all the wicked desires of their hearts.

“I will send messengers to testify against them, but they won’t listen. They will even kill the messengers and persecute those who seek the law. They will abolish and change everything in order to do evil in My sight. I will hide My face from them and hand them over to the Gentiles to be taken captive, plundered, and devoured. I will remove them from their land and scatter them among the Gentiles. They will forget all My laws, commandments, and judgments. They’ll lose track of the new moons, Sabbaths, appointed festivals, jubilees, and ordinances.

“But afterward, from among the Gentiles, they will return to Me with all their heart, soul, and strength. I will gather them from among the nations. They will seek Me, and they will find Me when they search with all their heart and soul. I will pour out great peace on them, with righteousness, and I will plant in them the seed of righteousness with all My heart and soul. They will become a blessing and not a curse. They will be the head and not the tail. I will build My sanctuary among them and live with them. I will be their God, and they will be My people, in truth and righteousness. I will never leave them or fail them, for I am the Lord their God.”

Then Moses fell on his face and prayed, saying, “O Lord my God, do not abandon Your people and Your inheritance, so that they wander in the delusions of their hearts. Don’t hand them over to their enemies, the Gentiles, so they rule over them and cause them to sin against You. Let Your mercy, O Lord, rise up over Your people. Give them an upright spirit. Don’t let the spirit of Beliar rule over them—to accuse them before You or to trap them away from the paths of righteousness, leading to their destruction. These are Your people and Your inheritance. You delivered them with great power from the hands of the Egyptians. Create in them a clean heart and a holy spirit. Don’t let them be trapped by their sins anymore—from now to eternity.”

The Lord said to Moses, “I know how stubborn and rebellious they are, and they won’t obey until they admit their sins and the sins of their ancestors. After that, they will return to Me with integrity and with all their heart and soul. I will remove the hardness from their hearts and from the hearts of their descendants. I will give them a holy spirit and purify them so they will never turn away from Me again. Their souls will cling to Me and to all My commandments, and they will obey them. I will be their Father, and they will be My children. They will all be called children of the living God, and every angel and every spirit will know—yes, they will know—that these are My children and I am their Father in righteousness and integrity, and that I love them.

“Write down everything I tell you on this mountain—both the beginning and the end—everything that will happen throughout all the divisions of time, according to the law, the testimony, the weeks, and the jubilees, for all eternity, until I come and dwell among them forever.”

Then He said to the angel of the presence, “Write down for Moses everything from the beginning of creation until My sanctuary is built among them for all time. The Lord will appear before everyone’s eyes, and all will know that I am the God of Israel and the Father of all the children of Jacob, and King on Mount Zion forever. Zion and Jerusalem will be holy.”

The angel of the presence, who had gone before the camp of Israel, took the tablets that recorded the divisions of the years—from the time of creation—containing the law, the testimony, the weeks, and the jubilees, year by year, according to the count of all jubilees. This record continued from the day of the new creation—when the heavens and the earth will be renewed—and included all creation according to the power of heaven and all the earth, up to the time when the Lord’s sanctuary will be built in Jerusalem on Mount Zion. At that time, all the heavenly lights will be renewed for healing, peace, and blessing for all the chosen people of Israel. And so it will be from that day forward for all the days of the earth.

The angel of the presence spoke to Moses just as the Lord had commanded and said, “Write the complete history of creation—how in 6 days the Lord God finished all His works and everything He made, and how He rested on the 7th day and made it holy for all time, appointing it as a sign for all His works.”

God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. He called the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” There was evening and there was morning—the 1st day.

On that 1st day, He created the heavens above, the earth, the waters, and all the spirits that serve before Him: the angels of the presence, the angels of sanctification, the angels of the spirit of fire, the angels of the spirit of the winds, the angels of the spirit of the clouds, of darkness, of snow, hail, and frost, the angels of voices, of thunder and lightning, and the angels of the spirits of cold and heat, of winter, spring, autumn, and summer. He also created all the spirits of His creatures that are in the heavens and on the earth. On that same day, He made the abysses and darkness, the evening and the night, the light, the dawn, and the day, all of which were prepared in the knowledge of His heart.

And there, we saw all His works and praised Him and glorified Him because of everything He had made. He created 7 great works on the 1st day.

D: 2 | The second day of creation
Genesis 1:6-8, Jubilees 2:4
On the 2nd day of creation, God made the firmament, which divided the waters—placing half above the firmament and half below. He called the firmament “Heaven,” and that was the only work He completed on that day.

D: 3 | The third day of creation
Genesis 1:9-13, Jubilees 2:5-8a
On the 3rd day of creation, God commanded the waters to gather in one place so that dry land would appear, forming the seas and rivers. Then He caused the earth to grow grass, seed-bearing herbs, and fruit trees, each producing according to its kind, and He saw that it was good.

On that day, He also made all lakes, the dew of the earth, all seeds that are sown, every sprouting plant, trees of the forest, the garden of Eden, and every kind of plant. These were the 4 great works God made on the 3rd day.

D: 4 | The fourth day of creation
Genesis 1:14-19, Jubilees 2:8b-11a
On the 4th day of creation, God made the sun, moon, and stars and placed them in the firmament of heaven to shine on the earth and to separate light from darkness. He appointed the sun as a great sign to mark days, sabbaths, months, feast days, years, sabbath years, jubilees, and all the seasons of the year, ensuring that everything that grows and sprouts on the earth would prosper. These 3 types of heavenly lights were created on the 4th day.

D: 5 | The fifth day of creation
Genesis 1:20-23, Jubilees 2:11b-13a
On the 5th day of creation, God made the great sea creatures and every kind of living thing that moves in the water, along with all winged birds that fly across the sky. He blessed them and told them to be fruitful and multiply, filling the seas and the earth with life.

The sun rose over these creatures to help them thrive, just as it did for all the plants, trees, and other living things on earth. These were the first living beings of flesh that God created with His hands on the 5th day.

D: 6 | The sixth day of creation
Genesis 1:24-26, 1:29-2:1,2:7-14, Jasher 1:1-2, Jubilees 2:13b, 2:16
On the 6th day, God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures—livestock, creeping things, and wild animals—each according to its kind.”

And it happened just as He said. God made the wild animals, livestock, and every creeping thing that moves on the earth, each according to its kind. God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the livestock, all the earth, and every creeping thing that moves on the ground.”

God created man in His own image. He formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being, able to speak.

The LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there He placed the man He had formed. From the ground, the LORD God caused every tree to grow that was pleasant to look at and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided into 4 branches. The name of the 1st is Pishon—it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. The gold of that land is good, and bdellium and onyx stone are also found there. The 2nd river is named Gihon—it flows around the whole land of Ethiopia. The 3rd river is the Hiddekel—it flows east of Assyria. The 4th river is the Euphrates.

God said, “Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the whole earth, and every tree that produces fruit with seed in it. They will be your food. And to every animal of the earth, every bird of the air, and everything that creeps on the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it happened just as He said.

God saw everything He had made, and it was very good. The 6th day concluded the creation of the heavens, the earth, and all their hosts, along with everything in the seas, the abysses, the light, and the darkness. God finished all His work on the 6th day, and everything was very good.

Falling Action and Resolution

D: 7 | The seventh day of creation
Genesis 2:2-6, Jubilees 2:17-33
God saw that everything He had made was good, and He blessed the 7th day and made it holy, because on that day He rested from all the work He had created and completed. He gave us the Sabbath as a sign: we are to work for 6 days and rest on the 7th, setting it apart from all our labor.

All the angels of the presence and the angels of sanctification—these 2 great orders—were instructed to keep the Sabbath with Him, both in heaven and on earth. And He said to us, “Look, I will set apart for Myself a people from among all the nations. They will keep the Sabbath day, and I will make them holy as My people. I will bless them just as I have sanctified and blessed the Sabbath day for Myself. They will be My people, and I will be their God. I have chosen the descendants of Jacob from among all I have seen. I have written him down as My firstborn son and set him apart for Myself forever. I will teach them the Sabbath so that they may observe it by resting from all work.”

Through this, He established a sign for them to keep the Sabbath with us on the 7th day—by eating, drinking, and blessing Him who created all things. He blessed and made holy a unique people above all others, that they would keep the Sabbath with us. He caused His commands to rise before Him as a sweet fragrance, pleasing to Him throughout all time. From Adam to Jacob, there were 22 heads of mankind, and 22 types of work were made until the 7th day. This day is blessed and holy; the earlier days are also blessed and holy, and they work together for sanctification and blessing.

To Jacob and his descendants it was granted that they would always be the blessed and holy ones of the first testimony and law, just as He sanctified and blessed the 7th day. God created the heavens, the earth, and everything in them in 6 days, and then He made the 7th day holy because of all His works. That is why He gave the command that anyone who works on this day must die, and anyone who defiles it must surely die. Therefore, you must command the children of Israel to observe this day, to keep it holy and not to do any work on it, and not to defile it, because it is holier than all other days. Anyone who violates it will surely die, and anyone who works on it will be condemned to die forever, so that the children of Israel will keep this day through all their generations and not be removed from the land. For it is a holy and blessed day. Everyone who observes it and rests from all work on the Sabbath will be holy and blessed for all time, just like us.

Declare and teach the children of Israel the law of this day: that they should keep the Sabbath and not abandon it because of the desires of their hearts. It is not permitted to do any improper work on it, or to do as they please. They must not prepare anything to eat or drink on that day, nor is it lawful to draw water, or carry anything into or out of their gates that was not prepared ahead of time on the 6th day in their homes. They must not carry things from house to house either, because this day is more holy and more blessed than any jubilee day of all the jubilees. We in heaven kept the Sabbath before it was revealed to any human being to keep it on earth.

The Creator of all things blessed this day, but He did not set apart all peoples and nations to observe the Sabbath—only Israel. Only they were permitted to eat and drink and keep the Sabbath on the earth. The Creator of all things blessed this day that He created for blessing, holiness, and glory above every other day. This law and testimony were given to the children of Israel as a lasting law for all generations.

These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. Before any plant of the field was in the earth, and before any herb of the field had grown, the LORD God had not yet sent rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground. But a mist rose up from the earth and watered the entire surface of the ground.
