Celebration
(2-minute read)
In an epic journey through time, we witness divine promises unfold at the Well of the Oath, where Abraham and Sarah stand at the brink of destiny. Miraculous news of Sarah’s long-awaited pregnancy arrives, igniting a fervor of anticipation and joy. The heavenly decree foretells a future where Isaac, their promised son, will herald a lineage destined for greatness—a holy nation set apart to serve the Most High. As celebrations ripple through the land, the first Feast of Tabernacles takes shape, a testament to unwavering faith and a covenant with the divine.
Amidst the rising action, Lot’s daughters bear sons, founding the Moabite and Ammonite nations, as they chart new paths beyond the Jordan. Meanwhile, Isaac’s birth fulfills God’s promise, bringing laughter and renewal to Abraham and Sarah, who embrace parenthood in their twilight years. As Isaac’s life begins, Ishmael grows into a skilled archer, carving his own destiny under God’s guidance. The intertwining fates of these families weave a tapestry of hope, legacy, and divine purpose.
In a spectacular resolution, Isaac’s weaning is celebrated with a grand banquet, uniting luminaries and kin from distant lands. The joyous feast, graced by kings and patriarchs, strengthens bonds and ignites a sense of unity and purpose. As laughter and toasts fill the air, the passing of Serug marks the end of an era, while the promise of Isaac’s legacy shines brightly on the horizon, setting the stage for a new chapter in this epic saga of faith, family, and destiny.

Jubilees 16:16-19
16 And we returned in the seventh month, and found Sarah with child before us] and we blessed him, and we announced to him all the things which had been decreed concerning him, that he should not die till he should beget six sons more, and should see (them) before he died; but (that) in Isaac should his name and seed be called:
17 And (that) all the seed of his sons should be Gentiles, and be reckoned with the Gentiles; but from the sons of Isaac one should become a holy seed, and should not be reckoned among the Gentiles.
18 For he should become the portion of the Most High, and all his seed had fallen into the possession of God, that it should be unto the Lord a people for (His) possession above all nations and that it should become a kingdom and priests and a holy nation.

Abram builds an altar and celebrates the Feast of Tabernacles
Jubilees 16:20-31
20 And he built there an altar to the Lord who had delivered him, and who was making him rejoice in the land of his sojourning, and he celebrated a festival of joy in this month seven days, near the altar which he had built at the Well of the Oath.
21 And he built booths for himself and for his servants on this festival, and he was the first to celebrate the feast of tabernacles on the earth.
22 And during these seven days he brought each day to the altar a burnt offering to the Lord, two oxen, two rams, seven sheep, one he-goat, for a sin offering, that he might atone thereby for himself and for his seed.
23 And, as a thank-offering, seven rams, seven kids, seven sheep, and seven he-goats, and their fruit offerings and their drink offerings; and he burnt all the fat thereof on the altar, a chosen offering unto the Lord for a sweet smelling savour.
24 And morning and evening he burnt fragrant substances, frankincense and galbanum, and stackte, and nard, and myrrh, and spice, and costum; all these seven he offered, crushed, mixed together in equal parts (and) pure.
25 And he celebrated this feast during seven days, rejoicing with all his heart and with all his soul, he and all those who were in his house, and there was no stranger with him, nor any that was uncircumcised.
26 And he blessed his Creator who had created him in his generation, for He had created him according to His good pleasure; for He knew and perceived that from him would arise the plant of righteousness for the eternal generations, and from him a holy seed, so that it should become like Him who had made all things.
27 And he blessed and rejoiced, and he called the name of this festival the festival of the Lord, a joy acceptable to the Most High God.
28 And we blessed him for ever, and all his seed after him throughout all the generations of the earth, because he celebrated this festival in its season, according to the testimony of the heavenly tablets.
29 For this reason it is ordained on the heavenly tablets concerning Israel, that they shall celebrate the feast of tabernacles seven days with joy, in the seventh month, acceptable before the Lord -a statute for ever throughout their generations every year.
30 And to this there is no limit of days; for it is ordained for ever regarding Israel that they should celebrate it and dwell in booths, and set wreaths upon their heads, and take leafy boughs, and willows from the brook.
31 And Abraham took branches of palm trees, and the fruit of goodly trees, and every day going round the altar with the branches seven times [a day] in the morning, he praised and gave thanks to his God for all things in joy.

Jubilees 16:12, 15
In the 6th year of the 4th week, in the middle of the 6th month, we visited Abraham at the Well of the Oath. We appeared to him just as we had told Sarah we would, promising that she would conceive a son.
Rising Action
M: 7 | The angels return and find Sarah pregnant with Isaac
Jubilees 16:16-19
We returned in the 7th month and found Sarah already pregnant. We blessed him and told him everything that had been decreed about his future—that he would not die until he had fathered 6 more sons and had seen them before his death. But through Isaac, his name and descendants would be carried forward. All the descendants of his other sons would become Gentiles and be counted among them. However, from Isaac’s children, one would become a holy seed, not to be counted among the Gentiles. This seed would belong to the Most High, and all of his line would fall under God’s ownership, to be His people above all nations—a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
Then we left and went to Sarah and told her everything we had shared with Abraham. Both of them rejoiced with overwhelming joy.
Climax
Abram builds an altar and celebrates the Feast of Tabernacles
Jubilees 16:20-31
Abraham built an altar to the Lord, who had rescued him and brought him joy in the land where he was living. He celebrated a joyful 7-day festival in this month, near the altar he had built at the Well of the Oath. He made booths for himself and for his servants during the festival. He was the first person on earth to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
During each of the 7 days, he brought a burnt offering to the altar: 2 oxen, 2 rams, 7 sheep, and 1 he-goat as a sin offering, to make atonement for himself and his descendants. As a thank-offering, he presented 7 rams, 7 kids, 7 sheep, and 7 he-goats, along with their grain and drink offerings. He burned all the fat on the altar—a special offering to the Lord, a sweet-smelling fragrance.
Every morning and evening, he burned aromatic substances: frankincense, galbanum, stacte, nard, myrrh, spice, and costum. He offered all 7 of these, crushed and blended together in equal and pure portions. He celebrated this feast for 7 days, rejoicing with all his heart and soul, along with everyone in his household. There were no outsiders or uncircumcised people with them.
He praised his Creator, who had made him for his generation, for He had made him by His own will, knowing that from him would come the righteous branch for future generations, and from him a holy seed that would resemble the One who made all things. Abraham praised and rejoiced, naming this celebration the Festival of the Lord—a joy pleasing to the Most High God.
We blessed him forever, and all his descendants after him, throughout every generation on earth, because he kept this festival in its proper season according to the witness of the heavenly tablets. That’s why it’s written on the heavenly tablets that Israel must celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles for 7 joyful days in the 7th month—a law for all their generations, every year, forever. There is no time limit on this law—it is an eternal command for Israel to keep the festival, dwell in booths, wear wreaths on their heads, and take leafy branches and willows from the riverbank.
Abraham took palm branches and the fruit of beautiful trees. Every day, he circled the altar 7 times in the morning, giving praise and thanks to his God for everything, with joy.
