Ephesians 3

Ephesians 3 (KJV)

1For this cause G5484 I Paul, G3972 the prisoner G1198 of Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 for you Gentiles, G1484 2If ye have heard G191 of the dispensation G3622 of the grace G5485 of God G2316 which is given G1325 me to you-ward: 3How that by revelation G602 he made known G1107 unto me the mystery; G3466 (as I wrote afore in few words, G3641 4Whereby, when ye read, G314 ye may understand G3539 my knowledge G4907 in the mystery G3466 of Christ) G5547 5Which in other ages G1074 was not made known G1107 unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed G601 unto his holy G40 apostles G652 and prophets G4396 by the Spirit; G4151 6That the Gentiles G1484 should be fellowheirs, G4789 and of the same body, G4954 and partakers G4830 of his promise G1860 in Christ G5547 by the gospel: G2098 7Whereof I was made a minister, G1249 according to the gift G1431 of the grace G5485 of God G2316 given unto me by the effectual working G1753 of his power. G1411 8Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, G40 is this grace G5485 given, that I should preach G2097 among the Gentiles G1484 the unsearchable G421 riches G4149 of Christ; G5547 9And to make all men see G5461 what is the fellowship G2842 of the mystery, G3466 which from the beginning of the world G165 hath been hid G613 in God, G2316 who created G2936 all things by Jesus G2424 Christ: G5547 10To the intent that now unto the principalities G746 and powers G1849 in heavenly G2032 places might be known by the church G1577 the manifold G4182 wisdom G4678 of God, G2316 11According to the eternal G165 purpose G4286 which he purposed G4160 in Christ G5547 Jesus G2424 our Lord: G2962 12In whom we have boldness G3954 and access G4318 with confidence G4006 by the faith G4102 of him.

Ephesians 3:1-12 The dispensation of the grace of God was given to Paul to minister to us. It was through revelation that He understood the mystery of God. He wrote to the Ephesians in another letter about this mystery. The mystery is this: that Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of God’s promise in Christ by the gospel. Paul considers himself a prisoner of Christ and less than the least of all the saints. Who is he to preach the gospel to the Gentiles and to reveal this mystery to all men? This new truth was purposed long ago and now we have the boldness and access to reveal it the church.

Compare “Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ” to: Acts 16:19-40, 28:17, Rom 16:7, Eph 4:1, 2 Tim 1:8, Phm 1:1,9

Compare “whereof I was made a minister (to the Gentiles)” and “that I should preach among the Gentiles” to: Acts 9:15, 13:47, 14:27, 18:6, 22:21, 26:20-23, 28:28, Rom 11:13, 15:16, Gal 1:11-16, 2:2, 1 Tim 2:7, 2 Tim 1:11

13Wherefore I desire G154 that ye faint G1573 not at my tribulations G2347 for you, which is your glory. G1391 14For this cause G5484 I bow G2578 my knees G1119 unto the Father G3962 of our Lord G2962 Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 15Of whom the whole G3956 family G3965 in heaven G3772 and earth G1909 G1093 is named, G3687 16That he would grant G1325 you, according to the riches G4149 of his glory, G1391 to be strengthened G2901 with might G1411 by his Spirit G4151 in the inner G2080 man;

Ephesians 3:13-16 Paul bows his knees to God because he has gone through tribulations for the Ephesians, but his desire is that they not worry about that. He considers it his honor. Therefore he prays that they become strengthened in their soul by the Holy Spirit. All saints have been named after Christ.

Ephesians 3:17-19 When we become rooted and grounded in the love of Christ by Him dwelling by faith in our hearts, Paul prays that we should somehow try to comprehend the love of Christ and be filled with the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:20-21 Christ deserves all the glory in the church throughout all the ages. He is the one who can do anything according to the power that works inside of us.
